Debbie Kropinski (born Adkins), modelled as Debbie Cochrane.
Debbie modelled internationally for 15 years. She started out at the age of 6, working alongside her mother (a well-known South African model of the sixties) for Vogue South Africa for photographer Ginger Odes. Also at this age, she was photographed by world famous Barry Lategan. However, she didn't initially pursue modelling as an adult, choosing instead to do Survey Engineering which involved preparing plans and diagrams for survey records and all types of survey draughting connected with transmission line surveys. Later, at the request of photographer Ginger, she started a career in modelling which took her all over the world. She worked in London, Spain, Germany, Italy, Australia, USA, Mauritius, Malawi, Scotland and South Africa.
During her career Debbie had the opportunity to open up her own model agency in a partnership, Model Management, but ultimately had to relinquish her share of the business when she left SA to model abroad. When she eventually retired from international modelling, being artistically inclined she turned her talents towards make-up artistry. This led to the production of an instructional DVD on the application of classic make-up which was promoted by a local magazine, resulting in huge sales. After 10 years as a professional make-up artist, Debbie, her photographer and film director husband Jacek Kropinski, and actress daughter Kasha Kropinski, moved to Los Angeles, USA, where they presently reside.
